This will increase their confidence and academic self-efficacy. This will be especially important for clients diagnosed with <a href=\"http:\/\/resourcelibrary.ucalgaryblogs.ca\/?page_id=343\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ADHD<\/a> and l<a href=\"http:\/\/resourcelibrary.ucalgaryblogs.ca\/?page_id=404\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">earning difficulties<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-1a46a23c003f9ddeae008b8f190b8e96\" style=\"color:#1c79af;text-transform:capitalize\"><strong>Some suggestions include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-success\">If your client does not know the answer to a question they can tend to \u201c<em>freeze<\/em>\u201d. It will be important for your client to learn to identify when they are \u201cstuck\u201d or feeling overwhelmed, and the steps that they can take to get \u201c<em>unstuck<\/em>\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Notice that I\u2019m feeling overwhelmed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take 5 deep breaths (or other relaxation strategy)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Positive statement (e.g., \u201cI can do this!\u201d)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start with what I know. Ask myself \u201c<em>What do I know?<\/em>\u201d, \u201c<em>What is the first step?<\/em>\u201d or \u201c<em>What category of concepts could this be related to?<\/em>\u201d&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-warning\">Your client&#8217;s teachers and parents can improve accuracy and positively influence their confidence when completing worksheets by intermixing &#8216;<em>easy<\/em>&#8216; problems among the &#8216;<em>challenging<\/em>&#8216; problems. <br><br>Research shows that students are more motivated to complete computation worksheets when they contain some very easy problems interspersed among the more challenging items.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-summary\">\nIt is important to always encourage and build up your client&#8217;s academic strengths.
