Reading

There are a variety of strategies you could offer to clients to support their reading development. In general, we use the five pillars involved reading process to better understand areas of need.

It is pivotal that a child’s deficits in reading be identified in terms of their specific area of impairment and that recommendations must be made based on a child’s unique profile of strengths and weaknesses.

1 . Phonemic Awareness – The conscious understanding that spoken words are made up of phonemes.

2 . Phonics – The understanding of the predictable relationship between phonemes (the sound of the spoken language) and graphemes (the letters and their spelling that represent that sound)
